Candidates Information Evening

Matua Mike Kake, Te Huinga Representative for Ngāti Hau was a panel member of the recent Candidates Information Hui held at Te Iwitahi Civic Centre in June 2025.

Aspiring local government candidates came together at the joint Whangarei District Council and Northland Regional Council Candidates Information Evening. Many attendees showed great passion for their causes, arriving early and staying until the event’s conclusion.

Matua Mike Kake, Te Huinga Representative for Ngāti Hau, was part of the panel, sharing his extensive civic engagement experience. He spoke about the Te Huinga Hapū Engagement Project, which aims to involve and support the community in the upcoming local elections.
